A Week in the Sun

The quad has been dotted with people laying out in the sun. For the first time in what feels to be years, campus doesn't seem dead during the day. Frisbees glide through the air, book pages are turned by a gust of wind, laughter echoes off of the buildings. In the bright sunlight the buildings seem to have a glow to them, the dullness of winter has started to fade. Even though the grass is browned, the green shows through; the softness and warmth is returning. The wind is warm today, not the cold air coming off the mountains anymore. It doesn't bite, doesn't chill the bones, only further calms the campus.

Spring has sprung.

The weather this week has been gorgeous this week. I'm talking about seventy degrees everyday, not a cloud in the sky. The kind of weather that makes you want to run barefoot across the quad with your face contorted with laughter. Everyone on campus is celebrating the good weather, even if we still have a lot of homework to do.

Heck, I just started doing my homework outside. I spent hours outside doing all of the reading I had to get done, having some great conversations with whomever stopped by to sit, and just relaxing in general. One thing I wish is that I had had my laptop with my so I could have written, "As I write this I'm sitting in the grotto outside of O'Connell Hall enjoying the sunlight." Alas, I did not.

Another thing too, I wanted to take pictures but I didn't want to have to step back from everything for even a minute. I was having far too much fun throwing the frisbee around the grounds and kicking back with all the O'Connell residents.

I attempted to play football with the guys out on the soccer field, and that went about as well as you'd expect. Although, I managed to make a touchdown catch in the first game we played, but when we started up a new game as more people joined I fared far worse. Didn't make any catches, but I did manage to keep some decent coverage. At least I didn't allow any points to be scored on me, that's always a plus.

The weather may not last though, I've heard people talking about snow next week. Weird, how it goes from being 70 plus degrees all the way down to freezing. It's like being back home, one moment it's raining and chilly the next it's 100 degrees and I'm out cooking a full ham on the sidewalk.

So for the rest of the week, I'm going to be outside as much as possible. I wish I could reflect with writing just how relaxed I am right now. I'm in a great mood, and things can only go up from here.

Until next time...
